In the pikachu led series, I do agree that the indigo league and orange league episodes had great atmosphere, the 'guess that pokemon' was fun too, especially when only a handful of people knew all the pokemon.
Unfortunately the great episodes stopped at the Johto journeys where they became repetitive and were filled with silly team rocket escapades often making the show embaressing to watch in front of too many people. I think maybe that and the fact that there are waaay too many pokemon caused the downfall of the franchise.

It's really a 'my generation' thing, Pokemon was huge a few years back when it first came to the west, really one of the few things that has a whole generation working together instead of battling over divided opinions.
Unfortunately it was not to last; Pokemon was going strong until one day you couldn't get the same trading cards anymore and the new ones looked crap, then the TV series got all silly, then there were new pokemon invented by the hundred (there were 151 at one point), eventually the fascination stopped, most people traded or sold their collectable cards and disposed of the VHS movies (a few lucky people had DVDs), these days I see smaller children than last time holding Pokemon as an interest maybe talking a lot about it, I don't know anybody who is really obsessed as to build over a thousand cards, all the moves, posters, action figures and video games anymore.
Unless there is somebody I haven't stumbled across who is or is still really into all things Pokemon, there would be an interesting conversation.

The first series of Pokemon was great, the latest ones, I don't know what happened. My favorite Pokemon is the cutest of all, I think, Eevee! He is such a flexible Pokemon, agree? He can evolve to any type of Pokemon like fire, water, psychic, dark, electric and now Eevee can evolove to grass and ice types. Even if Eevee evolved to any of them, they are still look cunning!

I never picked one favourite pokemon myself, there are a few I like though.

Eevee is indeed a notable pokemon, the evolution pattern is unique and all of them can make formidable battle companions. As I recall you only got one Eevee in the first series of games, that did make them annoying since you had to pick only one way to evolve (or not) it.

Does anybody here remember any of the first Pokemon games; red, green, blue or yellow?

I too agree there are moments in them when you are just wondering between towns or training in the wild that can get boring and repetitive, overall the games are pretty good though.
I only ask because I'm wondering how long it would take to develop a Pokemon game ... I'm expecting at least six months or more, still it's a possibility.

I was considering it, it's going to take a long time and of course it'll be a fan-made non-profit game with credit to the owner, which I think is still Nintendo.
I'm just analysing whether I have the resources to make a game like this.

I'll probably have the first 151 pokemon since I know them well, that includes Mew (and Mewtwo).

I'm still looking at the practical side of this, I think I need a more powerful computer, also there's the clearance to make a game based on and including characters from an owned series.

ii'm sure a game is classed as fanart.
Darn, wiki isn't any help here. I'd just go ahead anyway since you're not making ny money so it should be okay.

I liked Misty from the 'Pikachu' TV series, she always seemes so determined nomatter who put her down, and orange hair was original to me at the time.

Which pokemon do you think is the best starter in the Red and Blue games?

I suppose it depends on how you want to play the game, there's plenty of opportunity to capture more Pokemon before the gym leaders so in that way your starter becomes just another fire/grass/water type.
